Ram 5.7L Oil Change (2019+)
Perform your own Ram 5.7L oil change to save money and be sure it was done right. This article applies to the 5.7L found in the 2019, 2020, and 2021 Ram model years.
Tools Needed:
- 13mm wrench or 13mm socket and ratchet
- Oil filter wrench or pliers
- Funnel
- Oil Drain pan with at least 7 qt capacity
- Clean rag

- 7 quarts 5W20 engine oil (6.9 qt capacity)
- Oil filter – Fram PH10060
Ram 5.7L Oil Change Procedure:
- Warm truck up to operating temp (the warmer it is, the easier it flows out)
- Check the engine oil level on dipstick to verify no prior issues. If it is low, take note to check between oil changes in the future
- Remove engine oil fill cap
- Loosen oil pan drain plug using the 13mm wrench or socket / ratchet and drain all engine oil into the drain pan
- Remove the oil filter using a oil filter wrench or pliers if necessary, some engine oil will drain with the filter
- Clean oil filter and drain plug mating surfaces
- Lubricate new engine oil filter o ring with fresh engine oil
- Install engine oil filter to block
- Reinstall and tighten oil drain plug using 13mm wrench or socket / ratchet
- Fill engine with 6.9 quarts of new engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
- Start the engine to let engine oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while it is running) and shut the engine back down
- Check engine oil level & top off if necessary to get as close to the full mark as possible on the dip stick
When the oil change is complete, perform the oil change life reset to accurately track oil life
