Honda Accord 1.5T Oil Change (2018+)

A complete guide to performing your Honda Accord 1.5T oil change. This guide is specific to model years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 model year Accords equipped with the 1.5 turbo engine. The car is low so the front end needs to be raised to reach the oil pan and filter, however once it is raised the oil change procedure is straight forward. Ramps make this task even easier. Tools Needed:

  • 17mm wrench or socket and ratchet for the engine oil drain plug
  • Oil filter removal tool (3 prong claw style preferred)
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Oil drain pan – above 3.7 quart capacity
  • Rags or towels to check engine oil level
  • Funnel
  • Drive on ramps

Honda Accord 1.5T Oil Change Procedure:

  • Start engine and warm up to normal operating temp
  • Drive up on ramps to raise front end (be sure to set the parking brake and use wheel chocks)
  • Remove engine oil fill cap
  • Remove skid plate under engine oil filter using the flat head screw driver
  • Place oil drain pan under the engine oil drain plug
  • Remove oil drain plug using the 17mm wrench or socket and socket to let oil drain into the drain pan
  • When engine oil is fully drained, reinstall and tighten engine oil pan drain plug
  • Move oil drain pan under oil filter
  • Remove engine oil filter (use oil filter drain tool if it is too tight to remove by hand)
  • Lubricate new engine oil filter o ring, install and tighten to block
  • Reinstall skid plate using flat head screw driver
  • FIll engine with 3.7 quarts of the 0W20 engine oil
  • Reinstall oil fill cap
  • Start engine to let engine oil circulate and build oil pressure
  • Back vehicle off ramps
  • Check engine oil level on dip stick once vehicle is on level ground – adjust level if necessary
  • Reset maintenance reminder on dash display
