Toyota Supra Oil Change (2020+ 3.0L)

Performing your own Toyota Supra oil change is a simple task that anyone can tackle. This article is specific to the 2020, 2021, and 2022 model year Toyota GR Supras equipped with the 3.0L engine. With the oil filter housing easily accessible from the top of the engine bay, this oil change is as simple or simpler than most other cars. Tools Needed:

  • 17mm socket and ratchet for the engine oil pan drain plug
  • 32mm socket and ratchet for the oil filter cap
  • Drain pan with at least 7.0 quart capacity
  • Drive on ramps or a jack and jack stands
  • Funnel
  • Shop rag or towel

2020+ Toyota Supra 3.0L Oil Change Procedure:

  • Verify that the engine is warmed up to temperature
  • Raise the front end by driving on ramps or using a jack and jack stands
  • Remove engine oil fill cap
  • Locate the engine oil drain access panel from the under tray by twisting it counter clockwise and pulling out
  • Place drain pan under the drain plug
  • Remove engine oil drain plug using the 17mm socket and ratchet to drain oil in the drain pan
  • Reinstall drain plug when the engine oil has fully drained
  • Reinstall the under tray access panel
  • Remove the top engine cover
  • Using the 32mm socket and ratchet, remove the engine oil filter cap (found on the drivers side of the engine bay)
  • Remove the engine oil filter if it stayed in the housing
  • Remove and replace the engine oil filter cap o ring
  • Lubricate engine oil filter cap o ring as well as the 2 o rings found on the oil filter
  • Seat the new oil filter into that cap
  • Install and tighten the engine oil filter cap and filter to the filter housing
  • Reinstall the top engine cover
  • Fill engine with 6.9 quarts of fresh engine oil
  • Start engine and lower front end by driving off ramps (or lower from jack stands)
  • Shut off engine and make sure vehicle is in a level spot
  • Check engine oil level using the dash display – adjust if necessary
