Ford Transit Connect Oil Change Procedure:

  • Warm the engine up to operating temp and make sure vehicle is parked on a level spot
  • Check engine oil level and condition on dipstick and open the engine oil fill cap (I like to place it on the hood latch to make sure I can not forget to put it back on)
  • Raise front end high enough for you to safely get under it by jacking it up and placing it on jack stands or driving it up onto the vehicle ramps
  • Place the engine oil drain pan under the drain plug and remove it using the 15mm wrench or socket
  • Remove oil filter using the oil filter wrench and ratchet making sure to catch excess oil in the drain pan
  • Clean oil drain plug and oil filter mounting surfaces
  • Prime the new oil filter by partially filling it with fresh engine oil
  • Install new engine oil filter to engine
  • Reinstall and tighten engine oil drain plug
  • Pour 5.7 quarts of engine oil into engine oil fill hole using a funnel
  • Start engine to let oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down
  • Lower the front end by driving down the ramps or using the jack to lower it from the jack stands
