Honda Fit Oil Change (2015+)

A 2015+ Honda Fit oil change is a simple way to save money and stay on top of your car’s service schedule. They are all equipped with the same 1.5L engine with the same service intervals. This guide is for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 Honda Fit model years. For a 2001 – 2008 Honda Fit oil change, follow this alternate guide.

Tools Needed:

  • 17mm socket and torque wrench
  • 17mm wrench
  • Flat head screw driver
  • Filter wrench
  • Oil fill funnel
  • Drain pan with at least 4 quart capacity
  • Clean rag
  • Vehicle ramps or a jack and jack stands

2015+ Honda Fit Oil Change Procedure:

  • Warm engine to operating temp
  • Check engine oil on dipstick to verify no issues
  • Raise the front end by driving onto ramps or using the jack and jack stands
  • Drop the skid plate using the flat head screwdriver to pop the center of the skid plate retaining clips down
  • Loosen the oil pan drain plug using the 17mm wrench and let the engine oil drain into the drain pan
  • Remove oil filter (use oil filter wrench if necessary)
  • Clean oil drain plug and oil filter mounting surfaces
  • Lubricate new oil filter O ring and install
  • Reinstall and tighten oil drain plug to 29 lb ft using the 17mm socket and torque wrench
  • Fill engine with 3.5 quarts of engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
  • Start engine to let oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down
  • Reinstall the skid plate if equipped
  • Lower the front end by driving off the ramps or using the jack and jack stands
  • Check engine oil level once the front end is on level ground & top off if necessary
  • Reset your maintenance minder dash light
