Veloster N Oil Change (2019+ Hyundai 2.0T)

A Veloster N oil change is easy enough that anyone can do it and you can be sure it is done right. This article is specific to 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 model year Hyundai Velosters equipped with the 2.0T engine. It has a skid plate but has convenient openings so it should not need to be dropped to access the drain plug and oil filter. For other Hyundai specific guides, go to the Hyundai section.

Tools Needed:

  • 17mm socket and ratchet
  • Claw style oil filter removal tool (recommended)
  • Oil drain pan
  • Funnel
  • Shop towels
  • Jack and jack stands or ramps (ramps need to be low enough to to clear the front bumper when driving on to them)

2019+ Hyundai Veloster N 2.0T Oil Change Procedure:

  • Warm engine up to normal operating temperature
  • Raise front end with ramps or a jack and jack stands
  • Check engine oil level on dip stick to make sure there are no prior issues and remove the engine oil fill cap
  • Place the drain pan under the engine oil pan drain plug and remove the plug using the 17mm socket and ratchet
  • Let engine oil fully drain and reinstall / tighten the drain plug
  • Move the drain pan under the oil filter and remove the old oil filter (use oil filter removal tool if it is too tight to remove by hand)
  • Coat o ring on new oil filter with fresh engine oil and install to block
  • Fill engine with 4.6 quarts of fresh engine oil and reinstall the engine oil fill cap
  • Start engine and let it run to circulate fresh engine oil
  • Shut engine back down and lower front end from jacks
  • When vehicle is level, check engine oil level on dip stick and adjust if necessary
