Kia Stinger Oil Change (2018+ 3.3L)

A complete guide to performing a Kia Stinger oil change. This article is specific to the 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 model year Kia Stingers when equipped with the 3.3L twin turbo V6. The oil change is fairly straight forward but there are under trays in the way and it uses a cartridge style oil filter. For more Kia specific technical articles, visit the Kia page.

Tools Needed:

  • 10mm, 11mm, 17mm & 27mm sockets and ratchet
  • Pick for O ring
  • Flat head screwdriver or trim clip removal tool
  • Oil drain pan with more that 8 quart capacity
  • Shop rags
  • Funnel
  • Jack and jack stands

2018+ 3.3T Kia Stinger Oil Change Procedure:

  • Verify that then engine is warmed up to operating temp
  • Lift the front end with the jack and set it on jack stands
  • Remove the engine oil fill cap
  • Remove the under trays blocking access to the oil filter housing and the engine oil pan drain plug using the 10mm & 11mm sockets and the flat head screwdriver or trim tool for the clips
  • Using the 17mm socket and ratchet, remove the engine oil pan drain plug and let oil into the drain pan
  • Reinstall and tighten the drain plug when engine oil is fully drained
  • Move the drain pan under the oil filter housing and remove it using the 27mm socket and ratchet
  • Remove and replace the engine oil filter and O ring from the remove housing
  • Lubricate the new oil filter O ring on the housing and reinstall housing to block
  • Reinstall the under trays
  • Fill engine with 7 quarts of new engine oil and reinstall engine oil fill cap
  • Lower front end from jack stands
  • Start engine, let engine run for 30 seconds, and shut the engine back down
  • Check engine oil level and adjust if necessary
