DT466 High Pressure Oil Pump Leak: Ferry Plug

A DT466 high pressure oil pump leak is one of the most common issues found on these International engines. While there are a few reasons a high pressure oil pump (HPOP) could leak oil, the most common issue is it to leak past the threads and O ring on the ferry plug, found on the back of the HPOP facing the engine block. To replace the ferry plug, it is recommended to remove the HPOP due to there being a small metal ball which will fall out underneath the plug. This article applies to all DT466 engines equipped with a HPOP, however specifics such as wrench or socket size could be different from engine to engine. The engine this article is based off of was found in a 2000 International 4700 DT466E. For other International specific guides, visit the International category page.
