2008 – 2013 Honda Fit Oil Change

A 2008 – 2013 Honda Fit oil change is a simple way to save money and stay on top of your car’s service schedule. They are all equipped with the same 1.5L engine with the same service intervals. This guide is for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Honda Fit model years. For a 2015+ Honda Fit oil change, follow this alternate guide.

Tools Needed:

  • 17mm wrench
  • Oil filter wrench
  • Funnel for new engine oil
  • Oil Drain pan with at least 4 quart capacity
  • Clean rag

2008 – 2013 Honda Fit Oil Change Procedure:

  • Warm engine to operating temp
  • Check engine oil on dipstick to verify no issues
  • Remove oil pan drain plug using the 17mm wrench and let the engine oil drain into the drain pan
  • Remove oil filter (use oil filter wrench if it is too tight to remove by hand)
  • Clean oil drain plug and oil filter mounting surfaces
  • Lubricate new oil filter O ring and install
  • Reinstall and tighten oil drain plug
  • Fill engine with 3.5 quarts of engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
  • Start engine to let oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down
  • Check engine oil level & top off if necessary
  • Reset the maintenance minder dash light
