Honda Odyssey Oil Change (2018+)
Save money by performing your own Honda Odyssey oil change. This guide will help you stay on top of your service schedule. The maintenance interval for the Honda Odyssey spans between 7500 and 15000 miles and is calculated by the vehicle and displayed on the information display when it is due. For a 2011 – 2017 Honda Odyssey oil change, use this alternate guide.
Tools Needed:
- 17mm wrench
- Oil filter wrench
- Oil drain pan (6 quart capacity)
- Long oil fill funnel
- Ramps or jack and jack stands
- Clean rag

- 6 quarts 0W20 engine oil (5.7 quart capacity)
- Engine oil filter Fram PH7317 or equivalent filter
- Engine oil drain plug crush washer (optional – typically comes with OEM oil filters from a Honda dealer)
Honda Odyssey Oil Change Procedure:
- Warm engine to operating temp
- Check engine oil level on dipstick to verify no issues. If it is found low be sure to check oil level and top off if necessary between services
- Raise front end with ramps or the jack and jack stands
- Remove oil pan drain plug using the 17mm wrench and let the engine oil drain into the drain pan
- Remove oil filter (use oil filter wrench if necessary)
- Clean oil drain plug and oil filter mounting surfaces
- Lubricate new oil filter O ring and install
- Remove and replace engine oil drain plug crush washer (optional)
- Reinstall and tighten oil drain plug
- Fill engine with 5.5 quarts of engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
- Start engine to let oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down
- Lower front end off ramps or jack stands
- Check engine oil level when van is on level surface & adjust level if necessary
- Reset your maintenance minder dash light
