Nissan Altima Oil Change – 2013 – 2018 2.5L

A 2013 – 2018 2.5L Nissan Altima oil change is a simple way to save money and stay on top of your car’s service schedule. Tools Needed:

  • 14mm socket and ratchet
  • Torque wrench
  • Oil filter wrench
  • Funnel
  • Oil Drain pan with at least 5 quart capacity
  • Ramps or a jack and jack stands
  • Clean rag

Nissan Altima Oil Change Procedure:

  • Warm engine to operating temp to help suspend contaminents in the oil as well as help oil drain completely
  • Check engine oil level on dipstick to verify no issues
  • Raise front of car by driving on ramps or lifting with a jack and jack stands
  • Remove plastic access panel covering oil filter
  • Loosen engine oil pan drain plug using the 14mm socket / ratchet and drain into the pan
  • Remove oil filter (use oil filter wrench if too tight or hot by hand)
  • Clean oil drain plug and oil filter mounting surfaces
  • Lubricate new oil filter O ring and install
  • Reinstall and tighten oil drain plug – Torque spec is 22 – 29 ft lbs
  • Fill engine with 4.5 quarts of engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
  • Start engine to let oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down
  • Reaffix oil filter access cover
  • Lower front end from ramps or jack stands
  • Check engine oil level and adjust if needed (Check on level ground)
