F250 & F350 Oil Change (2011+ 6.2L)

Save money by performing your 6.2L Ford F250 & F350 oil change your self. These trucks were made for being serviced quickly in a fleet environment so it is as simple as it gets. To perform an oil change on the 2011+ F250 / F350 when equipped with a 6.7L Powerstroke engine, follow this guide.

Tools Needed:

  • 5/8″ SAE or 16mm socket or wrench
  • Torque wrench
  • Oil filter pliers or wrench
  • Oil drain pan with at least 7 quart capacity
  • Funnel for new engine oil
  • Clean rag

6.2L Ford F250 & F350 Oil Change Procedure:

  • Park truck in a safe and level spot
  • Warm engine to operating temp to help oil drain easily and quickly
  • Check engine oil level on dipstick to verify no issues (low oil or discoloration)
  • Remove engine oil fill cap
  • Place oil drain pan under the oil pan drain plug
  • Remove oil pan drain plug and let oil drain into pan using the 5/8″ SAE or 16mm socket or wrench
  • Remove engine oil filter using the oil filter pliers or wrench
  • Lubricate engine oil filter o ring with some fresh engine oil and install filter to oil filter housing
  • Reinstall and tighten oil drain plug – Torque is 17 lb ft if a torque wrench is available
  • Fill with just under 7 quarts of engine oil using oil fill funnel and reinstall engine oil cap
  • Start engine to let oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down
  • Check engine oil level on the dipstick & top off if necessary
