JT Jeep Gladiator Oil Change Procedure:

  • Warm the engine to operating temp (Warmer engine oil drains faster and helps suspend contaminants in the oil that will be drained)
  • Check engine oil level on dipstick to verify no issues – if it is low, remember to periodically check the level between services
  • Remove oil pan drain plug and let oil drain into pan using the 13mm (or 1/2″) socket and ratchet
  • Remove oil filter using the 24mm (or 15/16″) socket, extension and ratchet
  • With the oil filter cap removed, remove and replace housing o ring and filter
  • Reinstall oil filter with housing and torque to 18 ft lbs
  • Reinstall and torque oil drain plug to 20 ft lbs
  • Fill just under 5 quarts of engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
  • Start engine to let the engine build oil pressure so the dipstick level will be accurate and shut engine back down
  • Check engine oil level & top off if necessary
  • Reset the maintenance reminder
