Hyundai Ioniq Oil Change (2017+)

Perform your own Hyundai Ioniq oil change to save money and you can be sure it was done right. Although the Ioniq is a hybrid, an oil change is still a simple task, easily done at home. Tools and Supplies Needed:

  • 17mm wrench or socket
  • 10mm socket and ratchet
  • Filter wrench
  • Oil fill funnel
  • Drain pan with at least 5 qt capacity
  • Ramps or a jack with jack stands
  • Clean rag

2017+ Hyundai Ioniq Oil Change Procedure:

  • Warm engine up to operating temp
  • Check engine oil on dipstick to verify no issues
  • Raise front end using the drive on ramps or a jack with jack stands
  • Remove the engine oil drain plug and oil filter access panels using the 10mm socket
  • Loosen the oil pan drain plug using the 17mm wrench and let the engine oil drain into the drain pan
  • Remove oil filter (use oil filter wrench if necessary)
  • Clean oil drain plug and oil filter mounting surfaces
  • Lubricate new oil filter O ring and install
  • Reinstall and tighten oil drain plug
  • Reinstall both the oil drain plug and oil filter access panels using the 10mm socket
  • Fill engine with 4 quarts of new engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
  • Start engine to let oil circulate and build oil pressure (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down)
  • Lower the front end from the drive on ramps or jack stands
  • Check engine oil level with the car level & top off with more engine oil if necessary
