Ford Raptor Oil Change (2017+)
An oil change on a 2017+ Ford Raptor costs less if you do it your self, no need to pay for the dealer to do it. Follow your service schedule to stay on top of maintenance. Generally speaking, this guide should be similar for any 3.5L Ecoboost motor, which comes in the f150 and others. To perform an oil change on the Gen 1 6.2L equipped raptor, follow this guide.

How to Change the Oil in a Ford Raptor
Follow these steps to easily change the engine oil in a 2017 – 2020 Ford Raptor
Tools Needed:
- T40 bit for removing skid plate oil filter access panel
- 10mm socket for removing oil drain access cover
- 15mm socket for oil pan drain plug (2018+)
- Ratchet for above bit and sockets
- Oil filter wrench for tight oil filters
- Oil drain pan (over 6 qt capacity)
- Funnel
- Rag to clean dipstick

Parts needed:
- FL500S Motorcraft oil filter (OEM)
- 6 quarts 5W30 engine oil (Ford recommends synthetic blend at minimum)
Ford Raptor Oil Change Tutorial:
- Warm engine to operating temp
- Check engine oil on dipstick to verify no issues
- Remove skid plate oil filter access panel with T40 bit
- Remove oil drain access cover with 10mm socket
- Loosen engine oil pan drain plug and let oil drain into pan (2017-2018 plastic plug / 2019+ 15mm oil drain plug)
- Remove oil filter (use oil filter wrench if necessary)
- Clean oil drain plug and oil filter mounting surfaces
- Lubricate new oil filter O ring and install
- Reinstall and tighten oil drain plug
- Fill 5 quarts of engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
- Start engine to let oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down
- Check engine oil & top off if necessary
- Reinstall skid plate panel and cover
