Duramax Oil Change (2017+ L5P 6.6L)

Tools Needed:
- 16mm wrench or 16mm socket and ratchet
- Oil filter wrench or pliers
- Funnel for fresh engine oil
- Oil drain pan with at least 10 qt capacity
- Clean rag

- 10 quarts of 15W40 (conventional) or 5W40 (synthetic) engine oil
- Oil filter – ACDelco PF26
2017+ 6.6L L5P Duramax Oil Change Procedure:
- Park truck in a level spot and warm engine to operating temp
- Check engine oil level and condition on dipstick to verify no prior issues
- Loosen the drain plug using the 16mm wrench or the 16mm socket and ratchet and let the engine oil drain into the drain pan
- Move pan under oil filter to catch any oil that drips down
- Remove oil filter using the filter wrench or pliers
- Clean oil drain plug and oil filter mounting surfaces
- Lubricate the new oil filter O ring
- Install engine oil filter to oil filter housing
- Reinstall and tighten oil pan drain plug once all engine oil has fully drained
- Fill engine with 10 quarts of engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
- Start engine to let oil circulate and oil pressure build
- Check for any leaks while it is running and shut engine back down
- Check engine oil level & top off if necessary
