Cummins ISX Oil Change

The Cummins ISX oil change is a necessary part to keeping your engine running great. This article is specific to the ISX 15 motor which is found in many different types of trucks and equipment. Cummins ISX Oil Change (ISX 15) Procedure:

  • Park truck in a safe and level spot
  • Warm engine to operating temp
  • Remove engine oil fill cap
  • Check engine oil level on dipstick to verify no prior issues (if it is found to be low make sure to check engine oil between services. If it is too high check for oil dilution or discoloration from contaminants)
  • Remove the engine oil drain plug by inserting the 1/2″ drive into the drain plug and loosening
  • Remove engine oil filter using the filter wrench
  • Clean oil drain plug and oil filter mounting surfaces
  • Prefill engine oil filter with some of the fresh engine oil
  • Reinstall and tighten oil drain plug (44 ft lbs if a torque wrench is available)
  • Fill engine with 44 quarts of engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
  • Start engine to let oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down
  • Check engine oil level & top off if necessary
