Filter Location:
The crankcase filter is located on the front, drivers side of the engine. It is mounted directly behind the cold side charge pipe from the intercooler to the intake manifold. The filter itself is mounted inside the crankcase filter housing.

Cummins ISX Crankcase Filter Replacement Procedure:
- Order the filter needed
- Maintenance free filter
- This option is more expensive but will eliminate the need to change the filter in the future
- Standard crankcase filter
- Maintenance free filter
- Park truck in a safe area and make sure key is removed or in the OFF position
- Remove the intercooler pipe from the intercooler to the intake manifold – most common clamps used are removed using a 7/16” socket and ratchet
- Remove the front of the crankcase filter housing using a 5/16” socket and ratchet
- The bolts will not fall out of the cover, they stay in place even when loose
- Remove the old crankcase filter
- Clean the gasket sealing surface
- This is a common place to have dirt and grime build up
- Replace crankcase filter
- Install crankcase filter cover to housing and reinstall all components removed
