CRV Oil Change (2017+ Honda 1.5L)
A 2017+ 1.5L Honda CRV oil change is a simple way to save money and stay on top of your car’s service schedule. For a 2012 – 2016 Honda CRV oil change, follow this alternate guide.
Tools Needed:
- 17mm wrench
- Phillips head screw driver
- Oil filter wrench
- Funnel
- Oil Drain pan with at least 4 quart capacity
- Clean rag

Honda CRV Oil Change Procedure:
- Warm engine to operating temp
- Check engine oil on dipstick to verify no issues
- Remove skid plate using the phillips head screw driver to partially unscrew all the clips and pop them out
- Loosen engine oil drain plug using the 17mm wrench and let the engine oil drain into the drain pan
- Remove oil filter (use oil filter wrench if necessary)
- Clean oil drain plug and oil filter mounting surfaces
- Lubricate new oil filter O ring with fresh oil and install
- Reinstall and tighten oil drain plug
- Fill engine with 3.5 quarts of engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
- Start engine to let oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down)
- Check engine oil & top off if necessary
- Reinstall skid plate and clips
- Reset the maintenance minder dash indicator
