Honda Insight Oil Change (2019+)
Perform your own 2019+ Honda Insight oil change to save money and you can be sure it was done right. Although the Insight is a hybrid, an oil change is still a simple task and there is no need to put it off when it is due. This guide is for the 2019, 2020, and 2021 Honda Insight model years. Tools Needed:
- 17mm wrench or socket and ratchet
- Torque wrench (Optional)
- Phillips head screw driver
- Filter wrench
- Oil fill funnel
- Engine oil drain pan with at least 5 qt capacity
- Ramps or a jack with jack stands
- Clean rag

Parts needed:
- 0w20 engine oil – 3.5 quart capacity
- Oil filter – Wix 57356 or equivalent
2019+ Honda Insight Oil Change Procedure:
- Warm engine to operating temp
- Check engine oil on dipstick to verify no issues
- Raise front end using drive on ramps or a jack with jack stands
- Remove the lower engine cover using the Phillips head screw driver
- Loosen the oil pan drain plug using the 17mm wrench and let the engine oil drain into the drain pan
- Remove oil filter (use oil filter wrench if necessary)
- Clean oil drain plug and oil filter mounting surfaces
- Lubricate new oil filter O ring and install
- Reinstall and tighten oil drain plug to 30 ft lb
- Reinstall the lower engine cover
- Fill engine with 3.5 quarts of engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
- Start engine to let oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down)
- Lower the front end from the ramps or jack stands
- Check engine oil level on the dip stick with the car level & top off if necessary
- Reset the maintenance reminder
