Paccar MX-13 Oil Change
The Paccar MX-13 engine is found in many Paccar trucks and an oil change is one of the most important ways to stay on top of its maintenance schedule. Follow manufacturer recommended maintenance intervals to keep your engine running like new.
Tools Needed:
- 1 1/4” or 32mm socket and ratchet
- 1/2” torque wrench
- 12mm Allen socket
- Pick or small flat head screw driver
- Oil fill funnel
- Oil Drain pan with at least 42 quart capacity
- Clean rag

- Engine Oil Capacity: 42 quarts of 15W40
- Oil filters – Fleetguard LF16233 & Fleetguard CS41044 or equivalent
Paccar MX-13 Oil Change Procedure:
- Warm engine to operating temp
- Check engine oil level on dipstick to verify no issues
- Remove the drain plug with the 12mm Allen socket and let the engine oil drain into the drain pan
- Loosen both oil filter caps found on the right side of the engine as shown in the pictures below
- Remove and replace both oil filters
- Removed and replace both oil filter cap O rings
- Lubricate Oil filter cap O rings
- Reinstall the rear most oil filter cap first and torque to 65 N.M (48 fl lb) as shown on the cap
- Reinstall the forward most oil filter cap and torque to 40 N.M (30 ft lb) as shown on the cap
- Install and tighten oil drain plug to 60 N.M (44 ft lb)
- Fill engine with 42 quarts of engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
- Start engine to let oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down
- Check engine oil level & top off if necessary
