Toyota Corolla Oil Change (2018+)
A 2018+ Toyota Corolla oil change (1.8L engine) is made simpler then previous years due to Toyota switching back to the traditional spin on style oil filter. Do it your self and you can be sure it was done right while saving money. This guide is specific to the 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 Toyota Corolla model years equipped with the 1.8L engine.
Tools Needed:
- 14mm wrench
- 10mm socket and ratchet
- Oil filter wrench
- Funnel
- Oil Drain pan with at least 5 quart capacity
- Clean rag
- Ramps or a jack and jack stand to raise front end if needed for clearance

Toyota Corolla Oil Change Procedure:
- Warm engine to operating temp
- Check engine oil on dipstick to verify no issues
- Raise front end if unable to get under vehicle using the ramps or jack and jack stands
- Remove the skid plate access panel using the 10mm socket and ratchet
- Loosen oil pan drain plug using the 14mm wrench and let the engine oil drain into the drain pan
- Remove oil filter (use oil filter wrench if necessary)
- Clean oil drain plug and oil filter mounting surfaces
- Lubricate new oil filter O ring and install
- Reinstall and tighten oil drain plug
- Fill engine with 4.5 quarts of engine oil with oil fill funnel and reinstall oil fill cap
- Start engine to let oil circulate (Check for any leaks or abnormalities while running) and shut engine back down
- Reinstall skid plate access panel using the 10mm socket and ratchet
- Lower front end by driving down the ramps or using the jack and jack stands
- Check engine oil level once the front end is on level ground and top off engine oil if necessary
- Reset the maintenance required light
